At Staad, we find it very important that service is provided quickly and that drivers do not come to a standstill for long periods of time. That is why we employ several service technicians for the field service. Today we spend a day with service mechanic Jelle.
Jelle van de Rijt has been working as a field service technician at Staad for 3.5 years. Every day he enjoys going to work and does everything he can to help customers with malfunctions and repairs. “The best thing about my job is that I do something different every day and face different challenges. In addition, I have a great responsibility to keep customers satisfied. I also really like the personal contact you have with the customers.''
We started the day with a good cup of coffee and looked at what was planned for today. We then quickly boarded Jelle's own service van to leave for a malfunction in Reusel. In order to maintain an overview, all malfunctions are communicated via the service planning.
A customer experienced problems with the Doosan DA45 articulated hauler. This one didn't want to tip well. After taking the necessary tools from the canister, we started measuring the pressure in the lifting cylinders. No details emerged here. Jelle therefore decided to connect the laptop to read the machine's software.
The handbrake of the articulated dumper also needed a small intervention. It was not properly adjusted and the operator felt the machine shake while driving. Jelle knew what to do with this and quickly solved the problem.
After successfully solving the malfunction, we drove on to the next customer in Veldhoven. Upon arrival, the engine of the machine turned out not to start. As a result, the operator of the Doosan DX225LC came to a standstill and had to be helped quickly. After a good inspection of the machine, we soon found out that something was wrong with the starter motor. It was worn out and needed to be replaced. Fortunately, after contacting the Staad warehouse, a new starter motor was in stock. Jelle managed to replace it without difficulty, so that the driver could get back to work.
After satisfying both customers, we drove back to Veghel with a satisfied feeling and the day was already over.
